This article describes your options if a Rise Vision support representative has identified that your Ticker has a Rise Controller running Ubuntu 11.10.
Why is Ubuntu 11.10 deprecated?
The Ubuntu Foundation announced that as of May 9th, 2013 support and updates for Ubuntu 11.10 have ceased. You can read the announcement here.
In order to take advantage of our newest software updates, your Rise Controller will need to be upgraded to a model that runs Ubuntu 14.10.
If you already have a technician coming on-site
It is recommended that you purchase a new Rise Controller with Ubuntu 14.04, which supports current and future software updates. If you’re interested in purchasing a Rise Controller upgrade, let your support representative know.
If you don’t already have a technician coming on-site
We can provide a technician to complete the Rise Controller swap for you at an additional service charge. If you’re interested in this option, ask your Rise Vision support representative for a quote.
If you have an IT Team, or someone on site that would like to perform the swap, your Rise Vision support representative can provide some basic instructions for the procedure.
If your support representative was able to solve your immediate issue, and your ticker is functioning, you may decide to hold off on this upgrade. If you would like to upgrade at any point in the future, just let us know.
