Rise Player uses Chromium for rendering a Presentation on a Display. At this time Chromium does not support GPU accelerated video decoding on Raspberry Pi which may result in poor video playback.
Does this also apply to Rise Player running on Windows or Linux
No. Chromium on both Windows and Linux support GPU accelerated video decoding. You should not have any issues with video playback with Rise Player on a supported version of Windows or Linux.
Will Rise Player for Pi ever provide GPU accelerated video decoding?
As soon as a version of Chromium is released that supports GPU accelerated video decoding on Raspberry Pi we can start the process to update Rise Player with that version.
