We call the content that you want to show on your tv or monitor a Presentation and it is typically made up of text, images, and videos. There are hundreds of Presentation Templates that you can create a Presentation from or you can create your own Presentation from scratch with a blank Presentation. For the purposes of getting started let’s begin with the very simple Full Screen Image Template.
After selecting the Full Screen Image Template the Editor opens. The Presentation is on the right (2) and the list of (1) Placeholders within the Presentation is on the left. A Placeholder is a container of one more items of content like images, text, or video. You can sequence the order and timing of the content within the Placeholder. A Presentation can have as many Placeholders as you want. For instance, if you’re a school you may have an additional placeholder with a written message to students or faculty that would appear during the time you set; after that time it would go to the next item in the placeholder--a calendar of daily events, for example.
One popular way our users use digital signage is to create a slideshow of photos--images from a graduation or recent events, for instance. Slideshows are easy to create. Lets replace the first image in this Placeholder by clicking the Placeholder “Image-Slideshow” on the left to see what’s in it and then click the first item in the list that is called First Image to edit it’s Image Settings.
With a paid plan we can host your content, like videos and images, for you or you can host images on your own storage solution and reference them by entering a Custom URL. Let’s click Single Image
Then click Upload Files and select an image file from your computer. This Placeholder has a resolution of 1920x1080 and an image that is roughly that same size would work best.
Once uploaded it appears in the file selector, click it and then click Save.
Your image now appears in the Presentation in the Image-Slideshow Placeholder. If you have more images you want to display, you can repeat this process for the remaining images in the Placeholder, or you can remove them by by clicking the trash can icon next to the item you want to delete.
Save and Publish your Presentation
Now Save your changed Presentation by clicking Save in the bottom right. Click here if you would like to learn more of the advanced features of Presentation editing.
After saving your first Presentation, you’ll be prompted to add your first Display. Let’s move to the next article Setup Your Display.
