To show a Presentation on a Display, the Display needs to be added to Rise Vision, connected to a Media Player (a dedicated computer) that has Rise Player software installed on it and, the Rise Player software must be uniquely addressed using a Display ID.
You can setup a Display in Rise Vision now, even if you haven’t yet purchased or installed a physical Display or Media Player, so that when you do get them installed, everything will be ready.
Add your first Display
- In the navigation menu, click Displays.
- On the dialog presented, click Add Display.
NOTE: This dialog confirms that you saved the Presentation you just customized and tells you that by default, Rise Vision has created a Schedule for it. The default Schedule is “All Displays - 24/7” meaning the Presentation will show on all Displays you add, all day everyday. You can customize this Schedule later if you want.
- In the Name Your Display field, type a descriptive name for the Display, -e.g. “Lobby”, then click Next.
This Display will be added to your list of Displays on the Displays page and you will receive a confirmation email with the Subject Line “Set Up Your Display With Rise Vision” from firstname.lastname@example.org. This email contains the Display ID you’ll need to setup the Display you just added and the instructions for downloading and installing the Rise Player software on a Media Player.
Download Rise Player
If you have a dedicated Media Player, you can download and install Rise Player now. NOTE: If you purchased your Media Player from our Store, it will be shipped with Rise Player already installed.
If you don’t yet have a dedicated Media Player, you can still download the Rise Player software now so you’re ready to install it when you get one.
After you have added a Display to Rise Vision, you will be presented with the dialog below. It contains download links to the Rise Player software, as well as the Display ID for the Display you just added, and the option to send the instructions to another e-mail address. Chances are, you’re currently on your own personal device setting up your Presentations and Displays. If you have an email address that you can access on your Media Player’s web browser, send the confirmation email with the instructions to that email address. Otherwise, download the correct version of Rise Player on your Media Player using the download links provided.
Make a note of the Display ID, you’re going to need when you install the Rise Player software below. You will be prompted for when to enter it.
Install Rise Player
You can install Rise Player when you have a Media Player (a dedicated computer) to install it on.
The instructions for installing Rise Player are specific to each operating system. Please see the following articles for detailed installation instructions. You will need to enter the Display ID for the Display you added as part of this process.
Rise Player is supported on Windows 10 (32/64bit), Ubuntu 14.04 (32/64bit), and Raspbian 8.0 (ARMv7) operating systems.
We recommend running Rise Player on a Media Player with at least a Celeron (or equivalent) processor, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage. You can browse Media Players that are optimized for Rise Player in our store.
Rise Player requires access to the following URLs on port 80 and 443.
Once Rise Player is installed, your Presentation will show on the Display it is connected to because a default Schedule was created for the Presentation you created and it was set to show the Presentation on all Displays 24/7.
