You can use Jamf Pro to easily install Rise Player on a group of Apple TV devices. To follow this article, you need:
- Apple School Manager or Apple Business Manager
- Jamf Pro
- If your AppleTV is not already supervised in Jamf Pro, an AppleTV computer for Step 1
Step 1: Supervise your AppleTV to enroll it into Jamf Pro
AppleTVs that have been purchased using either your Apple Customer Number or a Reseller Number related to your Apple School Manager or Apple Business Manager accounts may already be supervised. If so, you may jump to Step 2. An AppleTV not already tied to those accounts (for example, if it was purchased off the Apple store website without entering additional details) will need to be manually linked to your Jamf Pro account via device supervision. Once a device is configured to be supervised, it will retain the supervised state even if reset to factory settings.
- Connect the AppleTV to a monitor.
- Connect the AppleTV to an ethernet cable for internet access.
- The AppleTV should be at the initial "Pair your remote" screen, that could also be showing the word "hello" in various languages. If the device has already been configured, perform a factory reset and do not touch the remote controller or perform any configuration suggested on the monitor. - Have an Apple computer connected to the same network as the AppleTV. This can be via wireless or ethernet connection.
- On the Apple computer, install and open Apple Configurator :
- From the Apple Configurator menu, open the "Paired Devices" window. The AppleTV should be listed with an adjacent "Pair..." button.
- If an "X" button is shown at this stage, click it to remove the device in order to forget the AppleTV so it can be re-paired.
- If the device is not shown, try checking the ethernet cable connection to the AppleTV or restarting the Apple computer. - Click the "Pair..." button. A verification code prompt will be shown on the AppleTV-connected monitor. Enter the code in the Apple Configurator window to pair AppleTV with your Apple computer.
- If successful, the Apple Configurator window will be showing the AppleTV image, as below.
- Double-click on the AppleTV image to open its details, and then click the "Prepare" button at the top of the window.
- In the "Prepare Devices" box that appears, select "Manual Configuration" and then:
- Unselect "Add to Apple School Manager or Apple Business Manager".
- Select "Supervise devices" and "Allow devices to pair with other computers".
- Click "Next". - In the next dialog box, it will request an MDM server. This is unique to your institution within your Jamf account and most likely consists of "https://(your-institution).jamfcloud.com". Provide that URL and your user credentials, and use the same URL for the server's name.
- Trust any certificates from "*.jamfcloud.com".
- Select your organization or create an organization if there is none listed. Select which setup steps to show on the device during the initial setup. We suggest keeping "Location Services" and "AppleID", but that is optional. If in doubt, keep all steps or skip them all.
- The AppleTV should now be listed under the "Supervised" tab. You can also log into your Jamf Pro account, select "Devices" and then "Search Inventory" to verify that the AppleTV device is now listed there via its name / serial number / other ID. It should have a listing of "Supervised : Yes".
- You can now complete the setup of the AppleTV using its remote with the instructions provided on the AppleTV-connected monitor.
Step 2: Add the Rise Vision Player app to your Jamf Pro instance
Before you can install Rise Vision Player using Jamf Pro, add licenses for the app to your account using Apple School Manager or Apple Business Manager.
- Log in to Apple School Manager or Apple Business Manager.
- Choose "Apps and Books".
- Search for and select "Rise Vision Player".
- In the "Assign to" drop-down, choose your instance of Jamf Pro.
- Enter the quantity of app licenses. This isn't the same as the Display License which is assigned in Rise Vision and has no impact on your account. We would recommend just entering a quantity much larger than you think you'll need.
- Click "Get".
- You will receive an email confirmation when the transaction completes and you're ready for the next step.

Rise Vision Player will automatically appear in the list of installed apps on the scoped devices. If you'd like, at this point you can manually open Rise Vision Player using the Apple TV remote and activate your display.
If you'll only be using your Apple TV for digital signage, you can follow the next optional step to enable Single-App Mode.

- Click "Save" in the lower-right.
Rise Vision Player will automatically open on the scoped devices. Activate your displays by following the on-screen instructions.
