There are two ways to show a PowerPoint on a Rise Vision display. You can either:
- Upload a PowerPoint file directly into a presentation. The file must be saved in pptx format.
- Link a Powerpoint from your Microsoft OneDrive account. Any future changes to that PowerPoint will automatically be transmitted to the linked presentation.
The PowerPoint presentation will be converted automatically into images, so animations and videos will not be retained. If your presentation has video content or animations, it’s recommended to convert your PowerPoint presentation into a video in PowerPoint before uploading it.
Both methods for showing a PowerPoint in a presentation are described in detail below.
Upload a PowerPoint file into a presentation
- Create a presentation from a "PPT - Full Screen" or Playlist template.
- In the list of options on the left, choose “Playlist”.
- Click on “Add”.
- Choose “PowerPoint”.
- If you already uploaded the PowerPoint file to the storage, choose "Select from Storage". Otherwise, choose "Upload from Computer".
- Choose the pptx on your desktop to upload.
Once uploaded, the file will be automatically processed and converted into a format Rise Player can show. When you’re done customizing the template, click on “Publish” on the top-right to add the presentation to a schedule.
Link a PowerPoint from your Microsoft OneDrive account to a presentation
- Create a presentation from a "PPT - Full Screen" or Playlist template.
- In the list of options on the left, choose “Playlist”.
- Click on “Add”.
- Choose “PowerPoint”.
- Choose "Select from Microsoft OneDrive". A pop-up will appear, requesting for you to sign into your Microsoft account. After signing-in, you will be able to choose the appropriate powerpoint you want to link to the presentation.
When you’re done customizing the template (including refresh interval rate of every 1 - 12 hours), click on “Publish” on the top-right to add the presentation to a schedule.
Considerations for revoking access to Microsoft OneDrive when removing a linked PowerPoint
Deleting the PowerPoint link will end sharing of that content in a presentation, however it will not revoke Rise Vision's access to the Microsoft OneDrive that contains that presentation. To fully revoke access to OneDrive, a user must perform the following actions:
- Go to https://myapps.microsoft.com/
- Locate the "Rise Vision" app in the list
- Click on the three dots above the Rise Vision icon, and select "Manager your application"
- In the next window, select "Revoke Consent". If an error message appears, refresh the page to see if the Rise Vision app was removed. If it is no longer there, the process was a success.
