The Easy Ticker (EZ-Ticker) contains a different hardware configuration than the normal Sunrise Ticker. All Easy Tickers have the standard Media Player, USB to Ethernet Adapter, a Gen 3 controller, and an extra part, the Refresh Controller.
Because the Easy Ticker uses less expensive LED Modules with ribbon cable input instead of Cat5 input, the Refresh Controller is plugged into the output of the Gen3 controller. A ribbon cable is attached from the first LED Module to the Refresh Controller. The Refresh Controller also requires its own power input of 5v DC.
Step 1: Turn power off
Disconnect power when servicing. Power can be turned off at the electrical breaker, unplugging the Ticker power cord from the back or by toggling the power switch located on the back of the ticker cabinet behind the first module as you are facing the ticker.
Step 2: Remove 1st and 2nd LED modules
See article Module Replacement. On an Easy Ticker, modules will be connected with a ribbon cable instead of Ethernet cables.
Step 3: Disconnect cables from Sunrise Refresh controller, and remove
Disconnect the 5v Power and CAT5 cables connected to the ethernet ports of the Sunrise Refresh controller.
Unfasten the screws holding the Sunrise ethernet controller to the Ticker cabinet.
Step 4: Install new Sunrise Refresh Controller
- Connect the CAT5 cable from the ethernet port to the uncapped ethernet port of the Gen3 controller.
- Connect the ribbon cable from the first LED Module to the Refresh controller.
- Connect power cable to Sunrise ethernet controller.
All connections should match the following diagrams.
Step 5: Reinstall LED modules
Step 6: Turn power on
