    Hello Tami,

At the moment, the Schedules feature doesn't allow for a one time Presentation, however that is a fascinating idea and I will mention it to our Apps team as an improvement suggestion!

    Kind Regards,

    I'll bump this one.

We have a client (a theater venue)that would like to schedule his signage and displays a couple of weeks in advance. Being able to schedule more than 1 schedule for a display would be great here as now they have to manually reassign displays to schedules once they run out.

What I think we're talking about here is scheduling of different schedules...

Jan, with embedded presentations (or even without them) and clever scheduling one can make it work within the existing RV framework easily. I know it sound vague, but to offer you a bit more detailed solution I would need to know more about what is needed and about the presentation within different schedules.

Here's what we would like to do:

They have 6 displays, paired per 2 in different parts of the venue.

Every evening they have different event and it would be great if they could plan out a week (a schedule per day), but that's where we're stuck now as a display can only be assigned to a single schedule.

Schedule-wise, we're not using presentations but just using a url where the slides are made. (so we can use content from their website in the slides).

Does that clear things up? I'll have a look at embedded presentations in the meantime.

    Thanks!

Jan, how many urls per schedule you need to use? You also can use urls with the Web page presentation. That would help with multiple urls. But if you want to use only one url per schedule, then you can go about it without using presentations. For example you have your 1 main url in the schedule at all times. Let's you need to 'add one or more additional urls to your schedule for X amount of time. You simply add that urls and then schedule it to appear on a specific date at the specific time and make it play for as long as you need. And you can add multiple urls this way for the entire week. Later, perhaps when you adding another batch, do not forget to delete them in order to keep the schedule neat.

Alternatively, you can create a presentation and add a 'permanent' placeholder with the the content that is the all the time. Then you can add another placeholder on top (higher Z-order) and assign 'temporary' content for some event. Now schedule that 'temporary' placeholder to go active on a specific day, time and for a specific amount of time. You can also make those placeholders to repeat weekly. You can add as many placeholders as you need.

One more alternative. Assuming you are using urls with the Web Page Widget for you content, you can actually put all WP widgets you need within the same placeholder and then use scheduling settings to control when they become active. The scheduling settings are consistent throughout Rise Vision. It is all the same for schedules, placeholders, and widgets.

If you are using only external webpages you do not really need embedded presentation for your scenario to work. In essence, external webpage is your presentation and you are embedding it with the Web Page Widget.

Do you think any of those scenarios could work for you?

Thank you for your suggestions, Darius. We are a retirement residence and look to use our display to inform about daily events, schedules, menus, etc. Ideally, we too would like to assign multiple schedules to the lobby display. Monday never comes back once we assign Tuesday. Is there a good chance that the option of assigning multiple schedules to a display - of course they cannot overlap - will become available? To me, it seems like a much more user friendly implementation than your work arounds from above.

I would not know when or if such feature becomes available to users in the future. I am just a regular user as yourself. I would not call every single option we have now in RV to achieve what you need a 'workaround.' RV designed scheduling system to work that way and it does work well! I have the presentation in schedule that plays mon-fri from 12PM-2PM. It does just that, and I do not see it for the rest of the day. It also was not difficult to setup... just list the presentation and tell RV when to play it. Done! very easy indeed. I am sorry, but I just do not see how multiple schedules would make things easier then they are now.
