Thanks for the suggestion.  If anybody else is interested in seeing this, please be sure to like the topic.

    Thanks.

Definitely something that would be useful. For the moment in name tags work well with the search feature available when viewing your presentations (Tag - Presentation Name, then just search for tag to get all related presentations) But it can get a bit tedious having to re-enter the search each time you return to that view.

    Hi Neal,

You added folders to the Rise Storage and made my life so much easier. (perhaps the lives of a thousand users)!

I try to keep in the loop on the items Rise is currently working with and gear new feature requests inline with your current schedule.

It appears this topic first surfaced 4 years ago and now again 4 months ago. I'm sure there was mention in between.

As mentioned, despite well thought out and now very long descriptive naming convention, it is becoming a nightmare to manage presentations and schedules.

The simple ability to create folders and organize these two areas should be a strong consideration by now.

Can you give me some kind of indication of where this might be on the current roadmap for Rise?

If not coming soon how many "likes" does this article need to change that?  LOL

I think that due to storage charges, many users are moving toward putting all their apples in one container and over the next year I suspect a cry out for folders or other organizational implementations (as mentioned, such as keywords/tags)

    Thanks for your consideration.

    J,

Again, thanks for your well thought out ideas regarding our platform.

While we currently have no plans to implement folders for presentations, it's a great idea. We have some other priority items that our development team is working on right now, and we're always evaluating ways to improve.

Just to chime in on this again -- another big +1 from us over here.

We currently have 45 presentations and it's pretty difficult to manage.

That being said, thank you guys for all the development and work you do on the product as is! It's excellent, and we're incredibly happy.

    Thanks!

    David,

At this point in time we don't have plans to implement this, however our development has noted this request.

    Noted, and thanks Sheridan!

Is there any plans to take this idea forward?

If so would it be possible to integrate these folders with sub accounts so that users only have access to their own presentations?

    regards,

    Hi Jim,

Javier from the Apps Team here. Adding and managing content is one of the focus areas we are currently working. We have had similar requests in the past and we are analysing them all to understand better the different case scenarios that our users have and which of those are most popular so that we can prioritize properly.

Just happened to see this thread today, and it's something we'd love to see as well. Management and permissions of these folders would be great also. +1

None yet I'm afraid. We will be sure that everyone is notified in the forum if this functionality is introduced.

    Thanks!

    Hello,
I may have missed an update on this subject, but has anything more moved on this request? Having folders to organize presentations would be great.

No updates yet LeAnna, but we will update everyone when and if this functionality is introduced!

Just jumping on this thread with a question since I am a really new user. Can you display the contents of 2 different folders in one placeholder? At our university, each of our departments has their own display which I am assuming each will have their own folder for. It will be a solid background with only 1 placeholder taking up the whole screen. But many of them also show photos that the Associated Student Body upload with events that are happening around campus. These are just a jpeg of the flyers that are posted on bulletin boards. We would like to be able to have both this content and the department content sharing the same placeholder using 2 different folders, is this possible? And how can I change permissions so one department can't control or upload to another department's display? Sorry, total noob here

Folders for presentations as being discussed here are not yet available.  I would suggest you work with the platform a bit to have a better understanding of how it works.  This type of question would also probably be better off as it's own topic.

Anyway, My suggestion based on the little you've shared here, is for your use is to create a presentation for each department and using scheduling to control which display shows which presentation

Each presentation could have a single (or multiple) placeholder for content.
    • Flyer jpgs - shows on all displays
            - perhaps using the photo feed widget with google photos
            - or the image widget with rise storage
    • Department 1 Content - scheduled for showing on one display
    • Department 2 Content - scheduled for showing on other display
You could create 'sub-companies' to prevent users from one department from touching the other, but the costs associated with rise storage and other premium add-ons increases quickly (rise storage for example could go from $120/year to $360 for the main company and 2 sub-companies)

Alternatively, just label the presentations and trust people not to screw things up too horribly.  You can also give users permission to edit (but not publish) or to publish (but not control displays), etc.  Admittedly, this is not a strength of the platform.

Alright thanks for the input. Maybe some more permissions will be implemented in the future :)

Curious why this shows as Implemented - I thought we are still unable to create folders for presentations  Thanks!

    Hi there Laura,

Thanks for bringing that to my attention, I'm not sure how that got switched.

Either way, I have changed it back to Under Consideration. Thanks!

At this time we do not have this planned. We'll check in with this thread if we have any updates.

    Hello.

My wish for next year (in 3 days jaja), to have folders for presentations.

I,am about to play with almost 40 presentations for the same project, even when I,am going to be able to organize folders at the storage side, I need to be careful to not get messy with 40+ presentations. ( I've figured it out how to simplify and use less presentations, but since there are minimal differences among each, I couldn`t)

I want to say thanks for the support  I have received during the year and my best wishes on 2018 for you all.

This would also be highly beneficial for us, especially if we can control permissions to various folders. With paid storage, it doesn't make sense to do sub-companies, but we'd still like to be able to do granular permissions.
