Dear All. After testing during hours, I remark that the video mp4 is playing well for 1 hour.. after that it plays a black screen during the time of the video... I restart the player and the video is playing again for an hour..,

Dear Mike and William, It's working fine with the MP4 file !
The "PUD" option does not work properly. When I choose the PUD option, I can see the message " Please wait, your video is downloading to cache" during 10 seconds and after blackscreen. When I set the time playback according to my video (40 sec), the message still on the screen until the video start. And it's working fine...
    All the best.

In the android settings there should be a setting to change webviews. This will load a newer version of webview than the one thats on the device. See if that changes anything. Now i will let you know that android 4.4.4 and lower will be not supported in the future. We havent decided on a date but we are going to require 5.0 and above for our app. This might happen next year. The reason has to do with webview. Android 4.4.4 and below the device webview doesnt get update unless you use a webview library like we do. Only issue is the project we were using has been discontinued. In android 5.0 and above webview gets updated through the Play Store.

Anyway try changing the webview setting in the app and see if the video plays any better.

    Thanks

I have the same problem, black screen when trying to play .mp4 file. Tried both PUD and setting seconds, but none worked.

Here is one that didn't work: http://preview.risevision.com/?type=presentation&id=b7fb4003-5917-423b-a497-76f44b303c5b

Tried changing resolutions, but doesn't help: http://preview.risevision.com/?type=presentation&id=85108f1b-fcba-4209-80c1-d50dc72b390f

Please advise how I could fix it.

Anton, Rise Vision is recommending WebM format for videos. MP4 should also work with the right encoding settings. I prefer mp4 myself, but I use Adobe media encoder, which works great every time. If you have an access to it, then you also can use WebM plugin for Adobe media Encoder http://www.fnordware.com/WebM/, which also works great. There should be online or free of charge WebM converters, but I never used those, so cannot recommend anything.

Also be sure your using the android video widget if your using android. The Rise Video Widget will have issues with some android devices.

    Thanks

    Hello Darius and William,

    Thank you for your reply.

I've tried webm format but the screen was black. Also, I have rendered the video using adobe media encoder and had trouble with the playback, the video was playing with delays and not as smooth as it should.

Could you advise me if the video is being downloaded to the device and then is played from the local storage or is it constantly playing the video from the server? (I'm trying to figure out the cause of the delayed and glitchy playback)

    Thank you,
    Anton

Try updating webview from the playstore if your using android. Also be sure your using the device webview in the the player settings. Do this to see if the glitches go away. Also the file should be downloaded to the device before it plays so its probably an issue with webview. Thanks

    Player is RisePlayer 6.2.

Here is the presentation that is not playing on the android (black screen): http://preview.risevision.com/?type=presentation&id=32b430cd-95a8-497e-8e7e-0ceab686a0e1

I just updated the webview, but the screen is still black. Tried device webview and chrome webview - both result in black screen.

Anton, try renaming your file with Latin instead of Cyrillic. It kinda worked for me once, but now it does not, so I am not sure...

Update: I do not know what to think... sometimes it works, sometimes it does not with the Android Video Widget. Out of desperation, I tried the video with standard RV Video Widget and it works every time for me; although, it took few passes for it to kick in (possibly... it took it that long to download the video file). Sorry, I cannot help you more on this one; I do not use Android players. The video works nicely on Windows players, though.
