How does your rss structure look like?

I created a test and it is works well

    Example

    - New presentation
    - Add a placeholder
    - Hit 'more'  and add the rss widget
    - Test feed http://rss.cnn.com/rss/edition.rss

    I also tried that,

A new presentation, placeholder, rss widget an then the feed.

When I try to change the height of the text and the colour, it stops working.
Even if the placeholder is higher than the text size.

I copy-pasted the former rss gadget from another presentation in the one I want to use by html and it works fine now.

Strange thing is that the rss feed work fine with the rss-widget in page view scrolling with pictures, title and description. Everything can be changed from font, size, colour. It keep working. Just when you want ik to be a scrolling text feed from right to left at the bottom of the presentation, it does nothing...

    Hm, that is strange.

I am changing the height of the placeholder and the color,  it is scrolling from right to left without any problem.

    Tom,

I took a look at your Presentation, and I believe we have a bug here. I noticed that if I changed the Items to show from 15 to 7, and changed the title from 60 to 48, and the text from 48 to 36, then it works as expected.

Can you confirm if that works for you?

    Hi Robb,

Sorry for this quite late reply.

Since I used the old gadget I didn't gave it ant thoughts.
I sometimes have a glitch in the feed of the old gadget so I'm picking up te courage to use the new rss widget again.

It works as you stated above but the bug still remains in the widget. If I change the items to show to 10, it works, anything above that and it wont.

The biggest issue is that the maximum title height I can seem to get working is 30px (really small) no matter what the height of the placeholder is. Anything above 30px and it stops working.

    Really strange...

I hope you can clear the bug out of thin one.

    Thanks for your reply.

    Kind regards,

    Tom

I am using 36px for title font size and 50 feed items no problem. It has been like that for months. Does not look like bug is in the widget.

    Hi Darius,

Have you tried any bigger than 36px ? I tried on different players with different feeds such as the cnn-feed I found in other posts as reference. It works fine till 30px with me but if you're standing more than 9 feed away it isn't readable anymore.

No, there was no need. It works well for us. I also played the same presentation on two different OS and two different players. What media players did you try for that presentation.

Also, I just now realized you have horizontally scrolling feed. This is not what I have. Still, I would like to take a look at this presentation, but for that I need you to copy the entire presentation's html code paste into notepad file and email it to me.

    Hello Tom,

Thanks for letting us know. Could you tell me the name of the Presentation(s) where you are using the widget and seeing these results? I'd like to use this to file a bug report with our team for further investigation.

    Thanks!

Indeed there is a problem with the widget's scroll mode. It allows you to increase letter height to some certain size and then breaks after that. Also, the 'breaking point' differs from one font to another. For example, I was able to get 56px titles from Roboto when Verdana was breaking @ 46px.

No such issue in other modes.

    Hi Mike,

I've made a copy of that presentation. It occurs with all of my presentations that I use the widget in.

Here's the preview link of that presentation :
    http://preview.risevision.com/Viewer.html?type=presentation&id=1f9fef34-2638-48db-bf0d-28879b74d1d6

It's called : 'test case rss feed widget'

I found a similar topic in the community of about 8 months ago however I don't think that is was solved either.
    https://community.risevision.com/rise_vision_inc/topics/rss-widget-not-working-above-30px

Thanks for your help Mike !

    Kind regards,

    Darius and Tom,

I believe this is occurring due to the max width/height of canvas in Chrome is 32,767 pixels, and amount of content  in the RSS Widget has exceeded that 32k. Can you take a look at this bug and let me know if this is similar to what you are seeing?

    Thanks!

I am unable to get any images to show in the RSS feeds for CNN. This still seems to be an issue.  How can we get them to show?

    Summit,

Which RSS Feed are you trying to show?

    Hello Summit,

Reviewing their feed, it looks like they are structuring their image tags in a way that is outside the scope of our RSS widget to retrieve. This seems to be common with their feed as well, a quick search has revealed other CNN feed subscribers reporting similar results with their images. You can restructure their feed by using a custom layout URL. We have more information on how to do this on the project page in GitHub, located here
