As far as I am aware, RV and all other signage running on windows was completely unable to hide the privacy settings prompt that the last big feature update pushed out.  Bad on Microsoft for that.  Once new privacy settings are accepted (Thanks for saving the day to Teamviewer, Logmein, etc) It shouldn't prompt again (Unless microsoft pulls that super prompt again for something in the future)  I recommend some research on making windows update silent. There are 3rd party tools availiable that will bring those obscure settings front and center, and help suppress or auto confirm any potential update snags.

I can't remember the privacy tool that did that for me off the top of my head. I don't have any windows units in actual deployment though, just a couple on the test bench. No other snags so far in the last 3 months of running the windows platform (I am experimenting on a move from linux to windows) NUC CAYS is a pretty good price point, fully assembled, has a windows key embedded in the bios so I can just flash a pre configured windows image to the SSD with no worries about activation, and good RV performance despite pretty conservative system resources.

it can be that your pc still has not installed that last big one 'creators(?)' update. to my understanding it has downloaded all the files, but it needs you to run the installation manually. don not pick another time or anything... run the update manually when asked. it would not shut up, no settings will help. it happened to me last week with one of our intel sticks. after that I checked all other pcs we have and some of them still needed that updated. there is an option to force the update, which i did.

    Tony,

Just to add a small kernel to the conversation, Microsoft has made it darn near impossible to silence that update. I agree with Darius that the best option for it is just to take care of that update, or it will just keep coming back.

Agreed, that it was not the smartest move by Microsoft!

I completely agree with you Tony, windows 10 updates have been non stop and intrusive for digital signage. Rise Vision with Windows 7 never gave me nearly the amount of issues I have with Windows 10. I have been very close to ditching Windows altogether and moving to Linux just because of these updates. I have tried so many things to try and prevent windows update messages from appearing and nothing seems to stop them!

    Silvio,

I agree, these updates are quite intrusive!

Can you try the steps listed in this article and let me know if that helps: https://help.risevision.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000187923-How-to-enable-automatic-scheduled-Updates-for-Windows-10

    Thanks!
