    Hi there Steven!

I know you shot an email into us about this as well, so I figured I would mention my recommendation here as well. As I said in my email, there are lots of ways to do it, as you can tell from Darius' example above :)

Another option would be to use the Birthday Template available in our Template Library. Just update that Presentation with the appropriate info, and create several instances of that Template, all with the name, images, text, etc that you want it to have.

In the Schedule, add all those Presentations, and set them to only show on the days you want. This way, you can have your regular content that plays daily, and then these Presentations that only play on the specified day.

    Thanks!

I did that using images. First, I created a number of images for each employee. You can use different widgets for the same thing. Then I added all of them as image items (Image Widget) in the same placeholder. I scheduled them to show in the playlist at the appropriate date and repeat that every year.

Problem #1: we wanted the images to show at least 1 day before the birthday and on the birthday of course (our employees get a day off on their birthdays so...). The only workaround to address this problem was to make image item copies and schedule them appropriately (I asked for an additional option in the scheduling settings to deal with this problem... not sure if that is gonna ever happen). For example, I have the same image item showing on BDay -1 day and the copy of it scheduled to play the next day. A bit boring to setup, but it works. Ideally, I would like to see the image playing for more days ahead of coming BDay, but making so many copies would be a bit crazy, but possible with small # of employees.

Problem #2: Often BDays will fall on weekends or long holidays and nobody will get to see them. Unless you are willing to revisit the schedule every year or make more than 3 copies for each BDay then there is no way to deal with this at this time.

I just wanted to add that in our case we use only a part of the message board screen to post this type of messages. This is why I have chosen that approach.

Another thing to consider here. AIthough, the method suggested by Robb is legit and good, I pretty much never do that way for one reason - no transition effects between items in the schedule. It is only available for transitions between items within the same placeholder.

And one more: not sure how many bday presentations you need, but I do not want to have 50 (in our case) different bday presentations in my presentations' list along with the other things. Organizing that mess using sub-companies is not all that straightforward (storage, pro-player). Apply futureproof planing to it.
