We're currently using Rise Vision for digital signage on a small passenger boat. Most of the time our screens show advertising and tourism information, but during boarding we'd like them to show safety information. The problem is "boarding" happens at several times throughout the day that may shift by several minutes depending on conditions, so it's difficult to schedule.
The ideal way to display this content would be for the captain of the vessel to press a button in the wheelhouse to preempt the scheduled content and play a 2-minute video.
We're using windows players so my plan was to use autohotkey or something similar to pop up a completely separate video player application over rise vision, play the video and then close itself, but this seems clunky, and means not using rise vision to manage the content, which seems a shame.
Wondering if anyone here can suggest a more elegant solution. Could I somehow put a video player in a placeholder on top of the presentation, but only have it appear when a specific key is struck on the player machine?
