Rise Vision can automatically override your scheduled content to show emergency alerts from a service that uses the Common Alerting Protocol (CAP). This ensures your audience immediately sees and hears urgent messages such as weather warnings, lockdown alerts, or other critical updates without manual intervention.
Requirements
- A third-party CAP provider (see list below)
- Admin access to your Rise Vision account
- Access to your CAP provider and appropriate permissions
- If setting up Emergency Alerts for Apple TV, complete the steps outlined in this article.
Instructions
- Sign in to your Rise Vision account.
- Click CAP Alerts on the side navigation menu.
- Toggle Enable CAP Alerts to activate the settings panel, and accept the Terms and Conditions.
- In Provider Settings,
- Set an Authentication Name and Authentication Password in the fields provided. Skip this step if your provider does not support authentication when sending alerts.
- Copy the Web Service URL and paste it into your CAP provider’s configuration along with the Authentication Name and Authentication Password define in the previous step, if applicable.
- Select how alerts will be shown on your displays by selecting one of the Template provided
- Optional: Toggle Play alert sound if you want an alarm to sound whenever a CAP alert is triggered.
IMPORTANT: Ensure your Display’s system volume is set appropriately for your environment.
- Configure the Alert Content settings to control which fields from incoming CAP alerts are shown in your selected template.
- Configure Distribution settings to control which Displays will show the Alert Template when a CAP alert is sent to your Web Service URL.
- By default, CAP alerts show on all Displays in your company. You can optionally show on all sub-company displays by enabling Show on all displays in sub-companies.

If you only want to show alerts on some of your displays, toggle the Show on all displays in this company option and click No Displays Selected and select one or more displays from the list provided.
- Configure Default Expiry to specify how long the alert should show for. Note: this applies only if an alert doesn’t include a duration or end time.
- Optional: Configure Filters to control which alerts will appear on your Displays using common fields typically included in CAP alerts.
- Click Save at the top of the page.
Guidelines for CAP Messaging
- Limit the Title field in your CAP provider to fewer than 40 characters.
- Limit the Description field to fewer than 100 characters.

Behavior Notes
- Audio alerts play only on Displays with speakers.
- The alarm sound volume is controlled by the device’s system settings.
- The Alert sound cannot be customized or replaced at this time.
