Setup Rise Vision on Promethean Android Displays (AP-7, AP-9, AP-LE, OPS-A1, OPS-A2)

This article shows you how to install and configure Rise Player on Promethean Android devices using the Promethean device management portal.

Applies to the ActivPanel 7, ActivPanel 9, ActivePanel LE, OPS-A1 and OPS-A2.

Requirements

  • A Rise Vision company with an available license
  • A Promethean ActivPanel 7, ActivPanel 9, ActivPanel LE, OPS-A1 or OPS-A2
  • Access to one.prometheanworld.com

Recommended install method

Install Rise Player through the Promethean portal. This is the method that gives you the full feature set, including Classroom Alerts, along with automatic updates.

  1. Sign in to Promethean at one.prometheanworld.com.
  2. Go to Admin Tools > Applications.
  3. Select Rise Vision. If you do not see Rise Vision, email risevision@prometheanworld.com and ask Promethean to add it to your account.
  4. Go to the Devices section, click Edit Devices, and select the devices you want to install Rise Player on.

Configure permissions

After Rise Player is installed, update the permissions so that CAP Alerts and other emergency notifications display correctly.

Allow Rise Player to display over other apps

  1. On the device, open Settings.
  2. Go to Apps > Rise Player.
  3. Tap Display over other apps.
  4. Enable the permission.

Disable the sign-in overlay

  1. Tap the bottom of the screen to open the bottom menu.
  2. Navigate to Applications > Settings > Apps.
  3. Turn off Show Promethean Welcome Screen at start up and sign out.

Other install methods

If your Promethean device has Google Mobile Services, you can install Rise Player from the Google Play Store. Otherwise you can download the Rise Player APK and install manually or from an MDM (like Radix).

Classroom Alerts do not work when Rise Player is installed by any of these methods.

Behavior notes

  • Classroom Alerts: supported on the ActivPanel 7, ActivPanel 9, OPS-A1, OPS-A2 and ActivePanel-LE when Rise Player is installed through the Promethean portal and is running the latest player version. Alerts can switch from another app or switch inputs to display.
  • Display Control: not supported on the ActivPanel 7, ActivPanel 9, OPS-A1, OPS-A2 and ActivePanel-LE devices due to hardware limitations. 
  • Multiple user profiles: Rise Player configuration is automatically persisted across different profiles on the ActivPanel 7 and the OPS-A2 when Rise Player is installed through the Promethean portal. On the AP-LE, Rise Player needs to be configured in each user profile individually and will persist across the user sessions.
