This guide walks you through installing Rise Player on Android or Android TV version 8.0 and higher. It covers three install methods: from the app store, using a Mobile Device Management (MDM) service, and manual APK installation.
Requirements
- Android or Android TV version 8.0 or higher
- A Rise Vision company with an available license
Unsupported Devices
- Devices that clear app data after each session (e.g., SMART Board MX-4)
- Promethean ActivPanel 9 (AP9). Refer to this devoted article to install on that device.
Unsupported Features
- Display Control with CEC
- Remote reboot of the device
Choose Your Installation Method
- App Store: Use this method for devices with access to the Google Play Store or manufacturer app store.
- MDM: Best for mass deployments in managed environments.
- Manual APK: Use this when no app store or MDM is available.
Install from the App Store
- Open the Google Play Store or your device’s app store.
- Search for Rise Vision Player.
- Install the app.
- Open the app and follow the prompts to activate your display.
Install Using a Mobile Device Management (MDM) Service
Rise Vision Player won’t auto-update if installed via MDM. To update, rerun the installation package.
Set up the installation package (first-time only)
- In your MDM system, go to the Repositories section

- Open Packages
and click + Add New.
- Use the following File URL:
https://storage.googleapis.com/install-versions.risevision.com/apk/manual/riseplayer.apk?alt=media - Name the package Rise Vision Player.
Deploy the package to devices
- Select the devices or groups where you want to install or update Rise Vision Player.
- From the actions menu
, choose Install Packages
.
- Select the Rise Vision Player package and click Apply.
- Your MDM will confirm when installation is complete.
- If it’s a first-time install, open Rise Vision Player on each device and follow the prompts to activate your display.
Install Manually Using the APK
Manual installs will not auto-update. Updates must be done manually.
- On your Android device, download the APK. You can also download it elsewhere and transfer it via USB.
- Open the downloaded file and follow the prompts to install Rise Vision Player.
- Once installed, launch the app from the home screen.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to activate your display.
- When an update is available, you’ll see an Update prompt inside the app. Follow the instructions to install the update manually.
FAQ: Emergency Alerts (CAP Alerts) and Android IFPs
Can Rise Vision wake up my IFP?
No. If the device is powered off or in sleep mode with network disabled, Rise Vision cannot turn it on.
If Rise Vision is not auto-launched on the startup of my IFP, can it still receive CAP alerts?
