This guide walks you through installing Rise Vision Player on Raspberry Pi 3B, 4B, or 5 using Raspberry Pi OS (32-bit or 64-bit). The Player must be installed via Terminal on a desktop interface — "headless" installs (no use of a monitor) via SSH are not supported.
Requirements
- Raspberry Pi 3B, 4B, or 5
- Raspberry Pi OS (32-bit or 64-bit) with desktop interface
- Class 10 SD card
Step 1: Update Raspberry Pi OS
- If you haven’t installed Raspberry Pi OS yet, follow the official raspberrypi.com guide here.
-
Once installed, open Terminal and run the following command:
sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade
Step 2: Turn Off Screen Blanking
The Rise Player will disable the screen saver by default, but on some units this function may be left on so it must be manually turned off:
- Click on the Menu/Raspberry Pi icon (top left corner).
- Go to Preferences, and then select Raspberry Pi Configuration.
- In the window, go to the Display tab.
- Find the Screen Blanking row and click Disable.
- Click OK. When prompted to reboot, click Yes.
Step 3: Install Rise Vision Player
- Open Terminal from the launcher or by pressing Ctrl + Alt + T.
-
Check if your system is 32-bit or 64-bit. Raspbian is 32-bit and Raspberry Pi OS is 64-bit. If you're not sure, type this into Terminal:
uname -m
-
armv7l= 32-bit -
aarch64= 64-bit
-
- Download the appropriate installer:
-
Navigate to where you download the installer, which in this example will be your Downloads folder:
cd ~/Downloads
-
Enable the installer:
For 32-bit:
chmod +x installer-lnx-armv7l.shFor 64-bit:
chmod +x installer-lnx-arm64.sh -
Run the installer:
For 32-bit:
./installer-lnx-armv7l.shFor 64-bit:
./installer-lnx-arm64.sh - Press Y when prompted to confirm installation.
- Enter your password and press Enter (your keystrokes won’t appear — this is normal).
- If asked to install Microsoft Fonts, use the arrow keys to select OK and press Enter.
- When asked if Rise Vision Player should start automatically, choose Yes for dedicated signage devices, or No otherwise.
- The Rise Vision activation screen will appear. Follow the on-screen steps to activate your display.
Step 4: Set Auto Login (Recommended)
- Click on the Menu/Raspberry Pi icon (top left corner).
- Go to Preferences, and then select Raspberry Pi Configuration.
- In the System tab, enable Login as user 'pi' under Auto Login.
