Rise Vision Player is supported on managed Chrome devices running in Kiosk mode. To follow these instructions, you need:
- Chrome OS Device Management
- The device is running a Chrome OS version 88 or up
- Access to the Google Admin Console
Your devices also must be able to run in Kiosk mode. Support for Kiosk mode is removed in past versions of Chrome OS based on Google's Auto Update policy.
This quick video goes over the steps to install Rise Vision Player on your Chrome OS devices:
Creating an Organizational Unit
It's best practice to start by creating an Organizational Unit to enroll your devices into. If this is your first time using Chrome Device Management, you can think of this like setting up a template to automatically install Rise Vision Player on your devices.
- Log into your domain at admin.google.com.
- Click on "Organizational Units".
- Create a new organizational unit by clicking on the "+" symbol.
- Name your organizational unit "Rise Vision Displays".
- Click "Create" to create the Organizational Unit.
Setting up Rise Vision Player
- In the menu on the left, expand "Devices" > "Chrome" > "Settings".
- Choose the Organizational Unit you created for your Rise Vision Displays and select "settings".
-
Scroll to the heading for "Device Settings".
- For Guest mode, choose "Disable guest mode"
- For Sign-in restriction, choose "Allow any user to sign in"
- For User data, choose "Do not erase local user data" - Choose "Screen settings".
- Set "External resolution" to "Use custom resolution".
- Set "External display width" to 1920
- Set "External display height" to 1080
- Set "Internal display scale" and "External display scale" to 100% - Scroll to the heading for "Managed guest session settings".
- For Managed guest session, choose "Do not allow managed guest sessions" - Click the Save button on the top-right to save your changes so far.
- Next, select the "Apps & extensions page" and select the “Kiosks” tab.
- To add the Rise Vision Player app, click on the + symbol and choose "Add URL".
- Add the URL “https://widgets.risevision.com/viewer/?type=webplayer” and click save.
- Open the details menu by clicking the added "Rise Vision Player" and ensure the following:
- "Allow App to Manage Power" option is disabled
- "Enable Device Attributes API" is enabled
- "Web app can run offline" is enabled - Scroll down in the same details menu to select "Add Extension" and "Add from a custom URL".
- In the ID field, paste this ID: lkfmfdclabnnmkccbfmkojbhohalhlon
- Keep the lower selection box as "From the Chrome Web Store". Click CONFIRM.
- Click "Save" to save the app ID and add Rise Vision Player to your account.
- In the Auto-launch App setting, choose "Rise Vision Player".
- Click "Save" on the top-right.
Portrait Displays
The new Rise Vision Player is not able to follow the rotation configuration from the Rise Vision console. So if the migrated devices rely on rotation, the setting should also be applied as an admin setting.
