How to Manually Update Firmware and Perform a Factory Reset on a K-Series Display

Use this guide to update firmware on your K-Series display, and complete the required factory reset. This process ensures the firmware installs correctly and resolves update-related issues.

Before You Begin - Internet Access or No?

Does the K-Series display have internet access? If so, you can run the over-the-air (OTA) update. 
If the K-Series display does not have internet access, you will need to download the required firmware file and prepare a USB drive before starting the update.

If There is Internet Access: Start the Firmware Upgrade

  1. Using the Avocor display remote, click on the OTA Service app on the Android Home Screen.
  2. Click on the OTA Service app on the Android Home Screen.
  3. Click Download.
  4. Wait for the firmware to download.
  5. Click Upgrade.
  6. Wait for the firmware to be installed.
  7. The device will automatically reboot.
  8. If you see the "Change Project ID" popup, click reboot by pressing OK on the Avocor
    remote.
  9. The device will automatically reboot.
  10. Enter the OOBE and select your language.

If No Internet Access: Start the Firmware Upgrade

  1. Insert the prepared USB drive into the USB 3.0 port on the display mainboard.
  2. Power off the display.
  3. Press and hold the Power button.
  4. Wait for the LED to begin blinking red while continuing to hold the Power button.
  5. Continue holding the Power button until “LOADING DATA…” appears on the screen.
  6. Release the Power button when “LOADING DATA…” appears.
  7. Wait approximately 2 minutes for the update to complete.
  8. Confirm that “SOFTWARE UPGRADE COMPLETE” briefly appears on the screen.
  9. Allow the display to reboot automatically.

If the Reboot Message Appears

  1. Wait for the green message screen to appear after reboot.
  2. Select Reboot.
  3. Wait for the display to restart.

Perform a Factory Reset (Required)

  1. Open the Android menu on the display.
  2. Select System.
  3. Select Reset options.
  4. Select Erase all data (factory reset).
  5. Confirm the factory reset when prompted.
  6. Wait for the device to reboot automatically.
  7. Confirm the reset is complete when the home screen appears.

Behavior Notes

  • You must perform the factory reset after the firmware update to ensure proper installation.
  • Do not remove power or the USB drive during the firmware upgrade process.
  • The display may reboot more than once during this process.
