The Live Screenshot feature on the Displays page allows you to capture a still image of exactly what is playing on your display at any given moment. This is helpful for auditing content, verifying proof-of-play, or troubleshooting issues remotely without being in front of the screen. You can click the Reload button to capture a new, updated image.
Supported Hardware and Operating Systems
While the Live Screenshot command can be sent to any display from your Rise Vision dashboard, the ability to capture and return that image depends on the media player's hardware and operating system restrictions. Note that individual experience, network and security settings and individual results may vary from this list.

How Live Screenshots work
When you open the Live Screenshot tool on the Displays page, the Rise Vision dashboard sends a request to your media player. The player takes a single still image of the current output and uploads it back to your dashboard for viewing.
Good to know
- Live Screenshots are not stored indefinitely and are meant for point-in-time verification.
- If a device is offline, it cannot process a screenshot request.
- Video content may occasionally appear as a black box in a screenshot due to hardware acceleration and DRM (Digital Rights Management) protections.
- If you are using a Raspberry Pi and the screen capture fails or returns a blank image, verify your operating system settings. You may need to disable the Wayland display server and switch back to X11.
