Why does Rise Vision Player close automatically on my Fire TV Stick after 4 hours or not turn back on automatically?

Important Notice

Rise Vision recommends the Amazon Signage Stick instead of Amazon Fire Stick or Fire TVs due to its affordability, performance, reliability, and built-in Mobile Device Management (MDM) capabilities. The MDM feature allows users to easily manage and control their displays remotely, ensuring device and application updates. The Amazon Signage Stick is purpose-built for digital signage and integrates directly with Rise Vision.

With the release of the new Amazon Signage Stick, Amazon Fire Sticks should not be used for digital signage moving forward.

 

If your Fire TV Stick is closing automatically after 4 hours:

As of Fire OS version 7, your Fire TV Stick has a built-in check that will ask if you are still watching every 4 hours and prompt for input using the Fire TV remote.  If the prompt is missed, all apps will be closed and your Fire TV Stick will go to sleep.

This article covers how to change your Fire TV Stick settings to change this behavior.

  1. On your Fire TV remote, press the home button to return to the Fire TV Stick's home screen.
  2. On the home screen, choose "Settings".
  3. In settings, choose "Preferences".
  4. Choose "Data Usage Monitoring".
  5. Find "Still Watching" and set it to OFF.

After changing this setting, start Rise Vision Player again on your Fire TV Stick and let it run for at least 4 hours to confirm the issue has been resolved.

 

If your Fire TV Stick is not turning back on automatically:

Changes by Amazon to Fire OS 8 have disabled every apps' ability to auto-launch, including that of Rise Vision. We currently have two separate recommended work-arounds for this situation:

  • Users can disable the default Restart Daily from the display's settings so that Rise Vision remains on all the time. This will avoid needing to manually launch Rise Vision each day. This is the simplest solution, however does not reactivate auto-launching. The rest of this article goes over how to do this.
  • Users that require the auto-launch feature to function and are comfortable using the Developer Tools can follow this article to reprogram their Fire TV Stick to enable auto-launching.

To turn off the Restart Daily setting:

  1. Log in at RiseVision.com.
  2. Go to the "Displays" tab.
  3. Click on the display's name to open its settings.
  4. Scroll down on the left until "Restart Daily" is reached.
  5. Toggle the "Restart Daily" setting off and save the changes by selecting the "Save" button.
