Symptom
Rise Player shows the message "There is a software update for Rise Player" on Android devices, such as ViewSonic devices.
Why This Happens
Rise Player periodically checks for new versions. If an update is available, it will attempt to download and install the update automatically. When Rise Player cannot update itself, it displays the message "There is a software update for Rise Player".
This situation occurs when Rise Player is installed on third-party Android devices that are managed by an MDM. Because the MDM controls software installation, Rise Player cannot update itself directly. Instead, the update must be deployed through the MDM by the organization’s tech coordinator or IT administrator.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, the tech coordinator or IT administrator that manages the MDM should:
- Download the latest Rise Player APK file from the following link: Download Rise Player APK.
- Log in to your organization’s MDM management console.
- Upload the newly downloaded APK file to the MDM.
- Deploy the updated APK to all applicable Android devices running Rise Player.
- Restart Rise Player on each device to complete the update.
