Symptom
After testing a CAP (Common Alerting Protocol) alert, the alert message appears correctly on your Displays but does not clear. Even after disabling the alert or changing Display settings, the alert remains on screen and your normal Schedule does not resume.
Why This Happens
A CAP alert will remain visible until the expiration time (cap.alertInfo.expires.time) defined in the alert message is reached. If the expiration time is set incorrectly, the alert won’t automatically clear.
If no expiration time is provided in the CAP alert, Rise Player will stop showing when one of the following occurs:
- The Default Expiry time has been reached,
- A
<cancel>or<all clear>message received from the CAP provider
Resolution
- Check the CAP alert message configuration to confirm that an expiration time (
cap.alertInfo.expires.time) is included and set correctly. - If no expiration time is defined, update your CAP system settings so each alert includes a correct expiration time.
- After correcting the expiration time or enabling follow-up messages, test a new alert to confirm that it clears from the Displays as expected.
