Display an EMS or Other Calendar Using an iCalendar Feed
You can show calendars like EMS (Event Management System) or others in Rise Vision by connecting them to a Google Calendar using an iCalendar feed. This method is useful for systems that support ICS (iCalendar) links and is a good fallback for calendars that can't connect directly to Rise Vision.
Requirements
- A Google account
- Access to your calendar system's iCalendar (ICS) feed URL
Instructions
Step 1: Get the iCalendar feed from your calendar
- Log in to your calendar from a web browser.
- For Outlook, go to outlook.live.com or your organization’s webmail.
- Open your calendar view by clicking the calendar icon.
- Click View > Calendar settings.
- Go to Shared calendars.
- Under Publish a calendar, choose your calendar from the dropdown.
- Set permissions to Can view all details.
If this isn't available, ask your IT team for help. - Click Publish.
- Click the ICS link and select Copy link.
For other calendars (e.g., EMS), steps may vary. Contact your calendar provider if needed.
Step 2: Subscribe to the ICS feed in Google Calendar
- Go to calendar.google.com and log in.
- On the left, click the + next to Other calendars.
- Select From URL.
- Paste the ICS link.
- Check the box for Make calendar publicly accessible.
- Click Add Calendar.
- Click the back arrow to return to your calendar view.
- Under Other calendars, find the new calendar.
- Hover over it, click the menu icon, and select Settings.
- Rename the calendar to something recognizable.
Step 3: Add your Google Calendar to Rise Vision
- Go to risevision.com and start a new presentation using a calendar template.
- We recommend the Weekly Google Calendar template.
- In the template settings, choose Google Calendar.
- Log in to your Google account and select the calendar you added.
- Customize the template as needed.
- Click Publish to schedule it to your display.
Behavior Notes
- ICS feeds typically update every 24 hours — events may not appear immediately after changes.
