This article helps you set up a live YouTube stream on your Rise Vision Display. This is ideal for regularly scheduled or one-time live broadcasts, like announcements or events. If you want to show pre-recorded videos, refer to this other YouTube article.
Requirements
- A YouTube channel under your ownership with streaming enabled
- The live stream must allow embedding and be set to public visibility
Instructions
1. Add the YouTube Template to Your Presentation
- On the Presentation tab, select the + Add Presentation button to open the Template Library.
- Select the YouTube Full Screen template. Do not use other templates with YouTube in a playlist.
- Click on YouTube in the Base Component list.
- Paste the URL of your YouTube channel into the field. To find the channel URL:
- Go to youtube.com and log in.
- Click your profile icon in the top right and select View Channel.
- Copy the URL from your browser’s address bar—it will include an “@” symbol.
- Use the volume slider to set the audio level for the stream.
- Click Publish in the top-right corner.
2. Add the Presentation to a Dedicated Schedule
- Ensure the YouTube Presentation is the only item in the Schedule. This allows Rise Vision to check continuously for when the stream goes live.
- If your subscription includes the Override - Replace option, then we suggest use it to interrupt default content during the live stream.
3. Start the Live Stream on YouTube
- Log into your YouTube account.
- Click Create in the top-right corner, then select Go Live.
- Make sure the following settings are also specified:
- In the Details tab:
- Set Audience view to “No, it’s not made for children.”
- Set License to “Allow embedding.”
- In the Visibility tab, choose Public.
- In the Details tab:
- Click Done to save settings.
- Click Go Live to start the stream.
Behavior Notes
- It may take 10–30 seconds for the stream to appear on Displays once started.
- A short playback delay of a few seconds is normal.
FAQ
Why isn’t my live stream showing up on my Display?
The stream may not be embedded correctly. Make sure the video settings include “Allow embedding” and the visibility is set to “Public.”
What if the “Allow embedding” setting isn’t saved?
Some YouTube accounts have a bug where this setting is lost. After starting the stream, immediately click Edit, scroll to License, and reselect Allow embedding. If not done quickly, the Display may stop trying to load the stream.
Can I stream content from a channel I do not own/control?
Only if the other channel has set the stream to public and enabled embedding. Otherwise, it will not appear on your Display.
