This article shows you how to display a live video stream using HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) on your Rise Vision display. HLS supports video, audio, and subtitles, and is commonly used for live broadcasts.
Requirements
- An HLS stream URL ending in .m3u8
- A Rise Vision account
- Access to create or edit Presentations
Instructions
- Decide how you want to show the stream:
- Full-screen: Go to the Presentation template library and select the Streaming Full Screen template.
- Within a Playlist: Open any Presentation with a Playlist and add the Video Streaming item.
- Paste your HLS stream URL into the Source field. Note: The stream will not preview in the Presentation editor, but it will appear in a Schedule preview and on your Display.
- Adjust available options:
- Volume – Set the default audio level
- Audio Track – Choose the audio language (if available)
- Subtitles – Enable subtitles (if available)
- Click Publish, then assign the Presentation to a Schedule for your Display.
Behavior Notes
- HLS streams must use a .m3u8 file. Links ending in .m3u are not supported.
- If your stream is hosted on YouTube, follow this guide instead.
FAQ
Why doesn’t my stream preview in the editor?
HLS streams do not preview in the Presentation editor. You can preview it in a Schedule or on a Display.
Can I use a non-HLS link?
No, only URLs ending in .m3u8 are supported for HLS streaming.
